A traveler by nature with a thirst for knowledge and culture, early on Pedro sought out the unknown and unreachable.
After graduating in Cinema at the University Gama Filho in Brazil, he was mesmerized by the country’s new cinema.
His first film was developed with his brother, Mário Patrocinio, a feature documentary depicting the life in one of the most dangerous slums of Brazil, the Complexo do Alemão. “Complex: Parallel Universe,” premiered at the International Film Festival of Rio de Janeiro winning several awards, including Best International Film in the category of Human Rights at the Artivist International Film Festival in Hollywood, Best Documentary Film at the Caminhos Film Festival, and a Public Award at the Cape Verde International Film Festival in 2012, becoming the most watched film in Portuguese Cinemas in 2011.
The return to Portugal was emotional. After 6 years of intensive learning, and absorbing the traditions of filming in Brazil, Pedro and Mário understood that their partnership needed a new horizon, so together they founded BRO an independent production company based in Lisbon, passionate about storytelling, tailoring content for worldwide audiences.
Following projects include feature documentary “I Love Kuduro”, which portrays the urban dance phenomenon of Kuduro, awarded for Best Cinematography at the Brazilian Cineport International Film Festival in 2014, Audience and Fiction Award at the Inquetudo Film Festival in Austria, “Fire Memories” awarded for Best Cinematography at the Vila do Conde Film Festival, and “Everything’s Ok” his debut fiction short film, awarded Best Short Film at Houston Latino Film Festival, Best International Short Film at Rome Independent Film Festival, among others.
Pedro is a creative cinematographer that loves what he does. The refinement of his calm and powerful approach to cinematography has been reflected throughout his work, bringing the human touch and true emotions across the screen to his audiences. In advertising he has worked with brands such as Apple, Nike, Vodafone, Mercedes, Galp, Red Bull among others, garnering several Gold, Silver and Bronze awards at the Portuguese Lusophone Creativity Awards, as well as the Grand Prix for Best Campaign Film of 2017 from the Creative Club of Portugal, representative of the Art Directors Club of Europe, with the campaign “Leave Everything in Field – Euro” for Galp Energy, and a Clio and Eurobest award for the film Cobblestone Riders among others. Throughout the years he has gained the necessary experience to film in any type of conditions. It’s his way of life.
Thanks to all my Bros.
